If your looking for Needlepoint talk, visit our blog and find interesting topics and helpful tips.
This is, strictly speaking, not a Needlepoint Book but I wanted to include it here. There is very little out there about contemporary Jewish stitchery and design for it. But then again, it's my web store and I can list what I want! (how's that for a statement?)
The actual subtitle of this books is:
Contemporary Jewish Needlework and Quilts.
Quoting (and paraphrasing) from the back cover
"The New Work Of Our Hands teaches and reinforces the richness of Jewish heritage and tradition through needle crafts. The techniques and how-to information presented here are not limited to specific projects, but also take the reader though the creative process of producing splendid Judaica artifacts."
The book features the work of the author as well as other noted fabric artists from around the world.
Looking through this book I am taken with many of these designs. The New Work Of Our Hands is packed with ideas and inspiration. Most of the pictures and drawing/templates are in black and white however there are 13 pages of full color pictures with 23 photos of finished work.
This is not a book for beginners, there is no instruction here, just design and inspiration.
I do want to mention, for those of you who also love to quilt, there are some extraordinary quilted designs in here.
This is a glossy cover paperbound book with 133 pages. It was published by Chilton Book Company in 1994. This copy is the 2nd edition.
The New Work Of Our Hand is in very good condition. As is typical in older paperbound books, there is wear to the edges of the cover and the pages. Other then that, the book is solid, great spine and the pages inside are very good.
