Whenever Metallic Thread needlepoint or embroidery comes up, the first name we all think of is Kreinik. Their threads are *the standard*, as far as I am concerned, anyway.
Who better to write a book about this than Jacqueline Friedman Kreinik? The subtitle is:
A Practical Guide To Stitching Creatively With Metallic Threads.
The title page also mentions Ann Caswell as Design Co-ordinator.
Although the book is titled for embroidery, almost everything here is applicable to needlepoint.
Quoting from the back cover
"Beautiful Designs all brought to life with a myriad of stunning effects"
"Metallic Threads and their uses explored and illustrated with inspirational color photography"
"Comprehensive stitch library guarantees polished results"
I am not sure I agree with the last quote, a book can show you much but there is no guarantee of results possible but I am just carping here, ignore me.
In looking through this book I see much that can be easily done in needlepoint rather therm embroidery, in fact some of the projects are needlepoint based. Each project is shown charted or with a template and with detailed instruction. The list of materials needed is specific about the types and weights of the Metallic Threads used.
The book takes you through the whole thing, start to finish. A beginner could use this book but I think it would be of more use to a more experienced stitcher.
In particular I want to mention the Sleeping Mermaid and Rainbow Fishes pillow, it is wonderful.
Metallic Thread Embroidery is a hard cover book, published by David and Charles in the UK in 2000. It has 128 pages.
The book is in very good, almost new condition.
