A newly published Bargello Needlepoint book is a welcome event, there are so few of them. Modern Bargello: How To Stitch Colorful Projects was released by Search Press in 2020, it is a complete and comprehensive overview.
It begins at the beginning, an introduction to the incredible patterns of Bargello. The first 7 chapters cover everything you need to stitch Bargello patterns with easy to understand directions, many full color photos, and tips.
There are 15 projects in Modern Bargello. The designs and directions are step-by-step and perfectly clear. The color use in these designs is excellent.
This is not a book for an experienced Bargello Needlepoint stitcher but it is exactly what a beginner or novice needs.
While several of the Bargello books in existence could and can be used by a stitcher unfamiliar with Florentine Embroidery (another common name for Bargello) I don't know of another book so accessible and useful to a stitcher new to this incredible and, in my opinion, neglected corner of the needlepoint universe.
Modern Bargello is a glossy cover paperbound book, published by Search Press in 2020. It has 95 pages.
