am always attracted to books about creating gorgeous flowers in needlepoint. I am sure that is my gardener's soul coming out. The stitched flowers on the cover of this book got my attention (and I am not that easily impressed).
To quote (and paraphrase) from the back cover:
"Eleven lovely flowers to embroider, including roses, hollyhocks, delphiniums, heartsease, violets, honeysuckle, English Daisies, geraniums, lady's ear drops, forget-me-nots, and sweet Alice."
"Clear instructions are provided to take you through both the embroider and the making up".
I am not sure what she means by "making up". It appears that Heather Joynes has a whole series of books on Ribbon Embroidery.
Despite the description of this needlework as embroidery there is nothing here that can't be stitched on Needlepoint canvas.
Each design has a template, threads & ribbons needed but not much direction. This book would be great for an experienced stitcher but I do not recommend it to a beginner or novice stitcher.
Old Fashioned Flowers in Ribbons & Threads is a glossy cover paperbound book with 55 pages. First published in 1994 by Kangaroo Press in Australia. Re-printed in 1994 & 1995.
