If your looking for Needlepoint talk, visit our blog and find interesting topics and helpful tips.
As far as I am concerned, Di van Nierkerk is The Master Teacher of Ribbon Work. She has published many fine books on this fascinating subject. I believe that I carry all her current, in publication, books on this subject.
As in each of her books, the directions are clear and easy to follow and the pictures are all in full color. She gives you everything you will need to complete each project:
The needles you will want, in each of the sizes needed.
The colors and amounts of silk Ribbon
The colors and types of the threads needed.
Typically an easy to find thread is used (such as DMC Perle Cotton Floss) or a thread, like Rajnahal Art.Silk, that is easy to substitute.
She lists other things you need such as an artificial stem, Anti-Fray Agent, Blue Water Soluble Pen and the size and type of beads you need etc. These change with each project.
For this example I am using the project Remember Me, a pair of pink silk roses beginning on page 98.
You are given the leaf template to trace and 5 full pages of step-by-step directions with full color pictures showing every step of the way.
She also give you the reference page, in her book, for the ribbon stitch she is using.
I know I am running on here but I wanted to give you an idea of how comprehensive and really quite beautiful her books are.
The main project here is a spectacular Silk Rose Sampler, you should see it.
Published in Great Britain in 2012 by Search Press, this book was originally published in South Africa (where Ms. van Niekerk lives) in 2011.
